My solar panel quote came in 60% higher than the online estimate

Went to a local installer in Austin after their site said $8k, but the real quote was $12.8k before permits and they said the online tool doesn't account for my roof pitch... Has anyone else had this gap with quotes, or should I just try another company?

Quotes always come in higher than the online numbers, that's basically the whole game they play. Roof pitch, wiring, permits, they find something every time to push the price up. But 60% is a big jump, so yeah, maybe grab another quote or two just to see if that's normal for Austin or if this guy's just testing you.
