Started biking to the store in 2019 to cut my driving, and now I have 4 panniers and no car
What actually worked was the small stuff: I moved my bike to the front of the garage where I had to walk past it, and that alone got me from driving 12,000 miles a year down to 3,000, so has anyone else found that the trick is making the low-carbon choice the easy one instead of trying harder?
Did you ever try putting your keys somewhere annoying to reach so you'd grab the bike instead? For me it was moving my bike lock right by the front door and keeping my helmet on the handlebars, so I had zero excuses to grab the car keys. Making it the easy choice totally beats willpower, every time.
