That week in July when my city hit 108 and the AC died

I live in Phoenix and last July we had a brutal stretch where it hit 108 for like 5 days straight. My AC unit gave out on day 2 and I had to wait 3 days for a repair guy to even show up. I tried those DIY tricks like blocking windows with blankets and running fans but my apartment still felt like an oven at 85 degrees inside at night. The repair guy finally came and said the capacitor blew and charged me $380 to fix it. I ended up buying a window unit from Home Depot for $200 just to survive the rest of the summer. It made me realize how bad it's gonna get for people who can't afford repairs or upgrades as temps keep climbing. Has anyone else had a heatwave moment that made climate change feel way too real?

108 in Phoenix is literally every summer though.

Phoenix hits 108 every July, that's just the desert. I've lived here 15 years and my AC died twice, cost about the same both times. People act like a hot week is proof of something changing, but this city was literally built on a former lake bed in the middle of a desert, it always gets this hot.
