Took me 4 weekends to get my neighbor to switch from gas leaf blower to electric
I live in a small suburb outside Portland where half the street still uses gas blowers every Saturday morning. I finally convinced my neighbor Bob to try my Ego blower after he complained about his old one dying, but then it took three more weekends of showing him how the battery system works and letting him borrow it before he actually made the switch. Has anyone else found that getting people to change small habits like this takes way more time than the actual solution?

Makes me think of that study about how it takes people 66 days to form a new habit or whatever.

Yeah that 66 day number gets thrown around a lot but it's really just an average from one small study. Some habits take way longer depending on how hard they are and what your life looks like. The real trick is just not beating yourself up when you miss a day and getting back on it the next morning.

My 66 day mark came and went 3 times before it actually stuck for me personally. I was trying to make a habit of walking every morning before work, and the first two times I just quit around day 40 because I got sick or had a late night. Third time it finally clicked, but what really helped was tying it to something I already did like making coffee right after. Have you found any tricks that actually work for getting past that initial hump?
