Warning: My barista's tip on ditching disposable cups actually stuck with me

Honestly, I never gave much thought to my daily coffee habit. Tbh, when she mentioned how many cups she sees wasted, I bought a reusable one. Now I feel like I'm doing a tiny bit for the planet every morning.

Most reusable cups need 50-plus uses to match disposables.

Ugh, I get where @murray.cora is coming from... that number feels huge at first. But riverh49 is right, you hit 50 way faster than you'd ever guess.

Remember that washing uses resources, so the break-even isn't just about uses.

Yeah the "50-plus uses" stat used to be my exact excuse. Felt like too much work for no real gain. But my barista's comment about the sheer volume of waste got me to just try it. Hitting that 50-use mark goes way faster than you'd think, and now every coffee feels better knowing I'm past that break-even point. That small mental win is pretty solid.
