Check your collets before you trust them, found one that was 0.002 off
I was at a machine shop expo in Cleveland last month and a guy from a local shop showed me a collet that looked perfect to the eye but measured 0.002 out. That's enough to ruin a critical bore. He said they only caught it because they started checking every tool holder after a customer rejected a whole batch. I went home and ran all my spare ER32s through the indicator. Two of them had wear I never would've spotted just by feel. How often do you guys actually verify your collets, or do you just trust them until something goes wrong?
