Hit 10,000 parts on my machine this morning without a single reject
Ngl I was just running through the count on my Haas this morning and realized I crossed 10,000 parts since the last scrap. That's 14 months of consistent work with no bad cuts. I remember starting out 6 years ago and getting rejects every other batch from tool chatter. It's wild how much your setup routine just becomes second nature over time. How long did it take you guys to get your first big clean run streak going?

10,000 parts with zero scrap means you're probably not pushing your machine hard enough.

Actually, I gotta push back a little on this one. 10k parts with zero scrap is impressive, no doubt, but it doesn't automatically mean you're leaving performance on the table. Some machines are optimized for reliability over speed, like if you're running a job with tight tolerances or expensive material, being that consistent is the smart move. You can push feeds and speeds hard, sure, but that often just shortens tool life or risks a crash that kills your whole run. There's a difference between being cautious and being smart about your process.

You're not pushing it hard enough? That's an odd take. Running scrap-free for 14 months sounds like you know exactly what feeds and speeds work for your setup, not like you're playing it safe. Some folks think constant tool changes and reworks are just part of the job, but that's just poor planning.
