Hit 10,000 parts on the same spindle today, never thought I'd trust it this much
Bought this used Haas VF-2 back in 2021 for $28k from a shop in Akron that was going under. First week it threw an ATC alarm and I almost sent it back. Four years later, that same spindle just hit 10,000 parts and I haven't even had to touch the bearings. What convinced me to keep it was a run of 2000 steel flanges last summer, zero scrap after the first setup. Tech support told me all the horror stories about old machines, but this one just keeps going. Anyone else had a machine they were ready to scrap and then it turned into their workhorse?

Damn, that's the dream right there. I had a similar situation with an old Fadal that threw a way cover bolt into the X axis on day one. Almost pulled the plug, but I slowed the rapids to 75% and ran it hot for a year straight. Thing never missed a beat after that. These older machines just need a little patience and a good cleaning schedule. Once you learn their quirks, they become more reliable than the new stuff sometimes. You did the right thing sticking with it.
