Just realized a trick for getting a perfect surface finish on 304 stainless without chatter.
I slowed the feed rate to 0.003 inches per tooth and used a 3-flute carbide end mill from Helical, which finally gave me that mirror look I needed for a medical device part last Thursday.

It's wild how slowing down is the secret to a better finish in so many things, not just machining lol.

Yeah, that "slowing down" thing is so true. I see it when I'm sharpening kitchen knives. Go too fast and you ruin the edge. But a few slow, careful passes and it's perfect. Even writing a tricky text message, rushing just makes you send something dumb.
