One critique about my roughing passes saved me 3 hours a week

An old timer watched me run a job last month and said my stepover was way too timid, basically babying the cutter. I bumped it from 40% to 60% on the finish allowance and the cycle time tanked without hurting surface finish. Anyone else get handed advice that made you feel dumb but grateful at the same time?
