Spent 3 hours trying to get a 0.0005" tolerance on a stainless part before I realized my vise was flexing.

Has anyone else had a vise that just won't hold tight enough for really fine work, and what did you switch to?

Check if your setup is actually the problem first. That kind of tolerance sounds like a measuring or thermal issue more than vise flex. Might be overthinking the whole thing.

Yeah but how often does that actually matter in real use. Most of the time you'd never even notice a few thou. People get way too hung up on numbers.
