Struggled with calling out a missing safety shield on the lathe.

Talking to the shift lead off the floor got it replaced without pointing fingers.

Handled that like a pro, keeping it off the floor so nobody got defensive. Got to love how we tiptoe around just to get a safety shield replaced, like it's some big secret. Means the machine won't bite anyone today, but man, it's wild that's the game we play. Almost like the real danger is the blame, not the lathe. Sure beats filing an incident report after the fact, though... typical shop stuff.

Ever think the company saves more on insurance when we hide problems than fixing them fast?

My buddy had a similar thing with a cracked guard on a grinder. He just casually mentioned it to the lead while getting coffee, like it was no big deal. They swapped it out that afternoon without any paperwork or fuss.

Exactly, @blake792. That quiet word off the floor gets it fixed without the drama, which is all that really matters.
