Swapped from my old Haas to a used Doosan last spring, still second guessing the move
Had a 2009 Haas VF-2 that I knew every squeak and quirk of. The spindle was noisy but never let me down. Then a buddy's shop went under and I got his 2016 Doosan DNM 4500 for 18 grand, which felt like a steal. I took it after 2 weeks of going back and forth. Now I'm 9 months in. The Doosan cuts faster and holds tolerance way better, but I miss the old control layout. My muscle memory still reaches for the wrong buttons. Plus parts and service for the Doosan around here in Toledo are a pain compared to the Haas guy who was 20 minutes away. Machine pays for itself but I still wonder if I should've just fixed the Haas spindle for 4 grand. Anyone else switch brands after years on one machine and regret it or get used to it eventually?
