Switched from flood coolant to mist on my Haas VF-2 after 5 years

Flood was making a mess of my chip management and the pumps kept burning out, so I tried a mist system from a shop down the street for $400 and it cut my cleanup time by half. Has anyone else made the swap and noticed a difference in tool life?

Damn that's cheap for a mist system lol. I did the same thing on my old VF-3 a couple years back and it was the best $500 I ever spent. My tool life actually went up a little since I wasn't getting that thermal shock from flooding all the time. Cleanup is way easier too, I can actually see what I'm doing now.

Right? $500 is nothing when you factor in how much coolant you're not wasting anymore. But tell me @cole_flores44, how do you keep from breathing in all that mist? I swear every time I walk past our VF-2 with the fogger running I feel like I'm seasoning my lungs with cutting oil. Cleanup being easier though, I'll give you that. No more mopping up a puddle every time you change a part.

Wait, is there a way to run those mist systems without turning the whole shop into a fog machine? I read somewhere that some guys drill a little hole in the nozzle to get a coarser spray that doesn't float around as much. Might be worth a try if you're tired of tasting coolant all day lol.
