Switched my go-to end mill after a shop in Toledo proved me wrong
I ran the same 2 flute carbide for 3 years, swore by it for aluminum. Last month a guy at a job shop in Toledo let me run his 3 flute with a variable helix on a 6061 part. My cycle time dropped from 12 minutes to 8 and the finish came out so clean I didn't need the deburr pass. What made me flip was watching the chip evacuation, no recutting at all. Any of you changed your default tooling after seeing someone else's setup, or am I late to this?
