TIL the old guy who trained me was right about one thing and it cost me a spindle
Back when I started running a Haas VF2 in Dayton, my trainer Ray told me to always warm up the spindle for 10 minutes before cutting anything tight. I blew him off for two years because it felt like wasted time. Last Tuesday I skipped it on a rush job and my first part came out .008 oversize, then the second one got worse. Ray retired three years ago but I still hear his voice every time I hit cycle start cold. Anyone else got an old shop rule they ignore until it bites them?
