Watching my kid sort Legos improved my tool organization

My son was sorting his Legos by color and size, and it hit me that I could do the same with my end mills. Now I have a labeled drawer system for each tool type and size. It cuts down setup time because I can grab what I need fast. Plus, it helps keep everything in good shape.

Seriously? It's just some end mills, not a library archive. Most people I know just toss them in a toolbox and still find what they need. Seems like a lot of work for something you might use once a month. Do you really spend that much time looking for tools that it becomes a problem?

you ever actually time how long you waste looking?

Look, do we really need to clock every minute spent looking for stuff? It's just tools in a shop. Most times you grab what you need and get on with it. I bet half the time lost is just people not remembering where they put things, not the setup itself. If you use something once in a blue moon, why stress over sorting it perfectly? Seems like making a mountain out of a molehill. Who has time to track that anyway?

Totally get it. Did the same thing with my drill bits after watching my niece organize her art supplies. Saves me a ton of time on small jobs.
