Appreciation post: my Python mentor in Austin made me pick between a web app or a data project for my first big thing

I went with the data project analyzing local weather, and it really helped me understand loops and libraries. Has anyone else faced a similar choice between project types when starting out?

Choosing data over web stuff was the best move for my learning too.

Data projects are great for learning the basics. You get to see results without getting stuck on web design stuff. Solid choice for a first big win.

Well, at least you didn't have to pick between a rock and a hard place (like my mentor did).
