I finally get why some people swear by learning HTML before jumping into Python

My buddy Dave who codes for a bank told me last weekend that starting with Python made me skip over all the little logic steps HTML forces you to figure out, and now I'm wondering if beginners should go through the boring markup stuff first or just dive into the more practical languages like JavaScript or Python for faster results - what's your take?

Honestly, I had a friend who swore HTML was a waste of time until he tried helping his nephew with a school project. The kid built a simple webpage from scratch and my buddy couldn't even figure out why the links weren't working because he skipped the whole nesting and closing tags thing. Now he tells me that Python feels more forgiving cause you can just import stuff, but HTML forces you to understand the skeleton of a page before adding any brains.

Oh man, @willowg88 your friend's story is exactly why I tell people HTML is the most underrated first step. It's like learning the bones of a house before you worry about the fancy furniture or smart lights. Python can hide a lot of its structure behind imports and functions, but HTML won't let you cheat (which is good for beginners, honestly). I've seen so many people skip straight to JavaScript frameworks and then get totally lost because they don't know how a div actually works. Your buddy's nephew probably learned more from that project than half the online tutorials out there.

@brianm66 nailed it. HTML is the unskippable foundation.
