My cousin kept telling me to skip Python and start with JavaScript, and here I am 8 months later
My cousin has been a dev for about 5 years and when I said I wanted to learn to code back in January, he said skip Python and go straight to JavaScript since it runs in the browser. So I did that for 8 months, built a few little things like a tip calculator and a to do list, and it mostly worked. But now I am trying to follow along with an intro algorithms book and everything in it is in Python, and I am rewriting every example by hand before I can even understand it. My cousin still says JavaScript was the right call for getting stuff on screen fast, which I get, but I feel like I skipped some basics. Did anyone else pick a language based on one person's advice and regret it later, or am I just bad at picking books?
