Rant: Went from writing code in Notepad to VS Code and now I can't go back

Back in 2018 I was building entire PHP scripts in plain Notepad like some kind of digital caveman, no syntax highlighting or anything. Upgraded to VS Code last year after my buddy laughed at my setup, and now I spend more time organizing my color themes than actually coding. Anyone else feel like a tool 50% of the time with all these features?

PHP scripts in plain Notepad is wild. Honestly, I respect the grind but that sounds painful, no line numbers or autocomplete at all. Ngl I definitely spend way too much time tweaking my VS Code setup instead of coding too though.
