That senior dev told me to stop learning React and go vanilla
A guy I know from a meetup in Austin kept saying I should build my first project with plain JavaScript before any frameworks. I ignored him and spent 5 weeks in React trying to fix state bugs, then redid it in 4 days with just JS and it finally clicked. Has anyone else wasted time on a framework too early just because every tutorial pushes it?

React forced you to learn state management the hard way, that is a benefit not a waste.
