Went to a local coding meetup and walked out after 20 minutes

Hit up a beginner coding group at the public library downtown. The guy running it spent 10 minutes explaining how to print "hello world" in Python. Then someone asked about making a simple game, and the leader just said "read the docs." No demo, no code walkthrough, nothing. I get that you need to learn basics, but if the leader cant show a real example, what's the point? Three other people left before me. Has anyone else had meetups that just waste your time like that?

Did the leader even ask what people wanted to learn or just assume everyone starts from zero?

Oh wow @drewr15 that's a great point, I've seen leaders just dive into basics when half the group already knows it well!

The last training I sat through the guy spent 45 minutes explaining what a spreadsheet is. Like we're all grown adults who work with data every day. I just sat there thinking about my grocery list instead. Someone raised their hand and asked if we could skip to the pivot tables part and the trainer got all defensive. That was a long hour.
