A guy at the hardware store saw my travel mug and gave me a tip

He was buying a new kettle and said he only uses filtered water from his fridge, not tap, because the minerals in our city water make his morning brew taste flat. I tried it for a week and the difference is real. Anyone else pick up a coffee habit tweak from a complete stranger in an odd place?

Disagree completely. My tap water makes a great cup and I'm not buying a filter just for coffee. That guy is overthinking it. Most of the taste comes from the beans and how you brew it anyway. I've used fancy bottled water before and honestly couldn't tell the difference. Feels like one of those things people convince themselves of after spending money.

Guess @phoenix_bailey's tap water is just built different lol. Some people really do be out here treating their sink like a fancy coffee shop.
