Best coffee week I've had in years started with a broken grinder
Last Tuesday my grinder died mid-pour over and I had to drive 20 minutes to a cafe just to get beans ground. Turned out to be the best thing that happened. The barista there convinced me to try a single origin from Ethiopia I'd never heard of before. I bought a bag of whole beans from them and used my backup hand grinder for the rest of the week. Every single cup tasted better than anything I've made in the last 6 months. Has anyone else had a broken machine lead to a better coffee routine?

Wait, 20 minutes just to get beans ground? That's dedication right there. I mean, I get it, but damn.

Buddy of mine tried that once. Burnt the hell out of his grinder motor and smelled like toast for a week.

@the_christopher 20 minutes is nothing if you're chasing that perfect espresso crema.
