Can we talk about that $300 espresso machine I bought on a whim?

I dropped $300 on a fancy espresso machine last month thinking it'd save me money versus the coffee shop. Ended up burning through three bags of beans before I realized I was grinding them wrong the whole time. Has anyone else wasted that much on trial and error with a new machine?

@jakewhite Oh yeah, I "adjusted" my grind size right into the trash can three times too.

You ever try adjusting the grind size first before messing with anything else? I wasted a ton of beans too until I found that fine grind for espresso was the key.
