Hit 1,000 latte art attempts before one finally looked right
I've been pouring at home for about 14 months, and last Tuesday my rosetta actually looked like a leaf instead of a blob. Took exactly 1,000 tries according to my notes app, which is way more patience than I thought I had. Anyone else track their practice count or just wing it until something clicks?
Man, that's some serious dedication and I respect it a lot. I did the same thing with my pour overs, kept a little notebook and everything for a while. The thing that finally pushed me past the ugly blob stage was slowing way down on the final pour, like watching the stream the whole time. Also, don't be scared to use a little more milk foam than you think you need, that extra cushion makes the art sit on top instead of sinking. Once you get that first good one, the next ones come a whole lot faster. Keep at it, that first decent leaf means you've got the feel for it now.
