I finally switched from drip to a moka pot after 20 years
My dad always used a Mr. Coffee machine and I did the same since college, then last month I picked up a $25 Bialetti at a yard sale in Portland and tried it. First cup came out so thick and rich it felt like I'd been missing out my whole life - has anyone else had that sudden switch moment?

Moka pots are way too fussy for me... all that screwing and unscrewing and watching the stove like a hawk. Drip machines just work, you set it and forget it while you get ready in the morning.

Honestly I felt the same way at first. What finally clicked for me was getting a cheap little kitchen scale and timing the brew. I fill the base with just-boiled water instead of cold, screw it tight but not crazy tight, and take it off the heat the second I see it start to sputter. Now it takes me maybe 90 seconds total and I get a way better cup than my old drip machine ever gave me.

Watching the stove like a hawk" is exactly why I've burned so many batches of moka pot coffee that I'm pretty sure my smoke alarm knows me by name now, @diana_kim66. But seriously, I get it, there's definitely a learning curve compared to just hitting "brew" and walking away.
