My new espresso machine is a piece of junk

Dropped 1200 bucks on a new machine last month thinking I was getting quality. It worked fine for two weeks then started sputtering and the pressure gauge went nuts. Took it apart and found a cheap plastic part inside that already cracked. Going back to my old French press for a while, anyone else had issues with mid-range espresso machines?

Bet they tested it with tap water and called it a day.

Did you check if the part that broke is something you could replace with a metal version online? Sometimes those companies cut corners on the internal bits knowing most folks won't open them up.

People missing the bigger problem here though @jamie804. Even if you swap it for a metal part, the plastic housing around it might warp from heat over time and throw everything out of alignment. These companies design the whole thing to fail together, not just one piece. The person who made that part knew exactly what they were doing when they picked cheap plastic instead of something that would last. You gotta wonder if they even test these things for more than a month of normal use before sending them out the door.
