Overheard my neighbor say his old percolator makes better coffee than any modern machine
Honestly, I was out watering the plants last Tuesday and heard my neighbor across the fence telling someone that his 20 year old percolator from a garage sale beats my fancy espresso setup. It got me thinking about all the gear I've bought over the last 5 years trying to get the perfect cup. He said something about how the percolator just does the job without all the fuss and guesswork. Made me wonder if I've been overcomplicating things just for the sake of having cool gadgets. Has anyone else gone back to a simpler brewing method and actually been happier with the taste?

Traded my fancy pour over setup for a simple french press last year and honestly haven't looked back. It's messier and takes a bit longer to clean, but the coffee tastes just as good and I don't stress about getting the exact right water temperature anymore.

That old percolator is probably proof that good enough beats perfect every time.

Three cups in and that thing still tastes better than my fancy drip machine ever did. Ive noticed that same pattern everywhere lately, like how my neighbor@jamie804 spent three weeks trying to pick the perfect paint color for his porch and ended up just grabbing the first can off the clearance rack. It works fine, nobody notices the difference, and he saved himself a headache. People get so caught up chasing the absolute best option that they miss out on the one that actually gets the job done without the drama. My grandpas old percolator has been doing its thing since the 70s while all these new machines break down after a year or two of being too smart for their own good. Sometimes the simple ugly solution outlasts the pretty complicated one every time.
