PSA: My morning pour-over routine got wrecked by a $4 thrift store mug
Last Saturday I grabbed this thick ceramic mug from a Goodwill in Austin and now my coffee cools in like 3 minutes flat because the walls are too heavy, so has anyone else found that mug shape messes with temperature way more than the beans do?
Notice how the same thing happens with camping gear and cheap cookware. Everyone obsesses over the fancy insulated brands but the real trick is just matching the mug to how fast you actually drink. Thick walls hold heat longer with a lid on, but leave it open and they just soak up the warmth like a sponge. Ive got a stack of mugs at home where the skinny thin ones keep coffee hot forever and the bulky ones go cold before my toast pops.
