Rant: My barista friend in Austin said 'good coffee shouldn't need sugar' and I'm still mad about it.

I argued that my morning cup is a comfort ritual, not a purity test. Anyone else think the 'no additives' rule is just gatekeeping?

Honestly, I was the same way until my dentist told me to cut back. Now I get it's about taste, not some coffee snob rule.

But is it really that big of a deal if your teeth are fine?

You said it's about taste, not a snob rule, but I have to disagree. My third cup of the day still tastes amazing, and my dentist just told me to use a straw. Some of us actually enjoy the ritual and the caffeine boost, not just the first sip. Cutting back might work for you, but my taste buds are doing just fine.

My dentist gave me the same warning last year. It's wild how much better coffee tastes when you're not having six cups a day.
