Started using a manual grinder 2 years back and I'm not going back
I used to just grab pre-ground coffee from the store for years. Didn't think much of it until my buddy let me borrow his hand grinder back in 2021. First cup I made with freshly ground beans tasted way brighter and had more depth. Now I wake up 10 minutes early just to grind my beans each morning. It's a bit of a ritual, listening to the crunch and smelling the coffee right there. I got a decent burr grinder for about 60 bucks and it's held up fine. Has anyone else made the switch and noticed a big difference?

Right, because everyone knows the secret to a perfect latte is minimizing time spent awake. I mean, "most people can't tell the difference in a blind taste test" is the same logic I use to justify drinking gas station coffee, so maybe you're onto something. I'll be sure to set my alarm for one minute before I need to leave the house and just dump a packet of Folgers in my mouth dry. Forget the ritual, I'm all about peak efficiency for my "chugging" experience.

Listening to the crunch and smelling the coffee right there." I mean, it's ground coffee, not a fine cigar. I really don't get the whole ritual thing. I bought a decent electric grinder a few years back and the difference between that and pre-ground is pretty small once the milk and hot water hit it. Waking up 10 minutes early to crank a handle seems like a waste of sleep to me, especially for something you're just going to chug down anyway. Most people can't tell the difference in a blind taste test, they just like the idea of it.
