TIL that my pour-over technique was the reason my coffee tasted bitter for 6 months

I was at my kitchen counter in Portland last Sunday, grinding beans like I always do, and I poured water over the grounds in one big circle like every video shows. Turned out I was channeling the water straight through one spot, which made the extraction uneven and brought out all the harsh flavors. Has anyone else struggled with getting a consistent pour without buying a gooseneck kettle?

Yeah, "one big circle" was exactly what I was doing wrong too, and (not gonna lie) it drove me nuts for months. I ended up getting a cheap gooseneck kettle off Amazon for like 20 bucks and it made a huge difference just from the slower, more controlled flow. Still not perfect but way better than that bitter, uneven mess I was getting before.

Wait, you're telling me one big circle is wrong?

Yeah my buddy tried that on his property and ended up flooding his neighbor's shed. Took him three weekends and a lot of swearing to fix it.
