I said the 3-point line would kill the post game back in 2012, and my old forum thread just got dug up
Back in 2012 I posted on a basketball forum that the 3-point line was ruining big men and the post game would be gone in 10 years. Someone just dug up that thread and tagged me because the MVP the last 5 seasons is a 7-footer who shoots 3s. My take was half right and half very wrong, so what's the worst cold take you've had dug up on you?
Wait, didn't the MVP thing actually prove you right in a weird way? Those 7-footers like Jokic and Embiid aren't playing with their back to the basket anymore, they're shooting 3s and handling the ball like guards. The old school post move is basically dead, you just got the reason wrong. Big men didn't disappear, they just stopped playing that way because the math says a 3 is worth more than a hook shot.
