Hit 500 single issues in my collection last week and realized I have a problem

I was cataloging my long boxes last Saturday and got to issue number 500, which was a beat up copy of Uncanny X-Men 141 I grabbed at a shop in Portland for $8. What surprised me wasn't the number itself but that 137 of those books are duplicates I didn't even know I had. Does anyone else have a shelf or box count that snuck up on them like this?
