Hot take: I spent $75 on a 'mint condition' comic that was just a reprint glued into an old cover
The seller swore it was a 1963 original, but the paper stock felt wrong (it was glossy). Anyone know a good way to spot a glued reprint before buying?

Honestly, some of those old reprints are pretty well done. I saw one at a con last year that even fooled the guy running the booth for a minute.

Ugh that's the worst. My buddy got burned on a "first print" Batman like that. Try checking the staples, sometimes the glue seeps out and feels crusty near the spine.

Yeah, the old crusty spine trick. I mean, you'd think they'd come up with a better way to fake it by now. My friend has a whole box of "first prints" that feel like they were stored in a sugar factory.
