My comic shop owner in Cincinnati just asked me to stop alphabetizing his back issues
When I was 15, I used to spend hours every Saturday secretly re-sorting the long boxes at my local shop, convinced the owner needed my help. I'd move all the 'X-Men' titles together, even the weird spin-offs. Last week, he finally said, 'James, I appreciate it, but your system makes it impossible for me to find anything when you're not here.' It turns out he files everything by the exact date it hit his store shelf, a method from 1987. Has anyone else's 'helpful' fan habit ever been gently shut down?

Oh man, that's hilarious. I read a blog post once where a guy kept trying to 'fix' his friend's DVD collection by grouping all the sequels together, but his friend just had them in the order he bought them. It's like a secret code only the owner knows, lmao. Your date system story totally reminds me of that.

Ever think that was just chaos?

What if that's the whole point though? Some systems look like a mess but they work perfectly for the person using them... Trying to "fix" it just breaks their brain.

My whole life is chaos, like @cole_flores44's friend's DVDs.
