Rant: the comic shop owner in Tulsa showed me his spinner rack has a hidden tier behind the front row
Stopped by a shop on 15th Street while visiting my sister and the owner pulled the front row of new releases forward, showing a whole back row of stuff he said he saves for regulars who actually ask. Found a beat up copy of Daredevil 181 he let go for $20 because I bothered to chat with him for 10 minutes. Does your local shop do anything like this or is it just mine?
Did you ask him straight up how many copies of a book he keeps in the back before he puts them on the rack? Because that is the part that bugs me. If he is holding back stuff for people who chat him up, that means the guy who runs in on his lunch break and grabs what he can see is getting a worse shot at the same book. I get the regulars thing and all, but where do you draw the line between a perk for nice customers and a two tier system? Also did he say if that Daredevil was priced that way because of the shape or because it was a back room copy with no sticker?
