Shoutout to the guy at my local comic shop who tried to school me on Silver Surfer lore
I was flipping through a back issue bin last Saturday when this dude in a Galactus hoodie walks up and says I was holding the wrong issue to understand 'The Origin of Galactus.' He spent ten minutes explaining how I needed to start with Fantastic Four #48, not #49. I let him finish, then pulled out my copy of #48 that I already had in my bag. He turned bright red and walked away. Has anyone else had a fan try to 'educate' you on something you already knew cold?

Ha! Yeah, I got lectured on X-Men lore by a guy who just mixed up two storylines.

Happened to me at a con a few years back with a guy who wouldn't shut up about how the Hobgoblin reveal was in a specific issue of Spider-Man. I nodded along for five minutes while he quoted the whole thing wrong. I just pulled up the wiki page on my phone and showed him the actual issue number. He mumbled something about "well the writer changed it later" and walked off to bother someone else.

Yeah man, the wiki trick is the best way to handle those guys. They hate being proven wrong with actual facts. Next time, just skip the five minutes of nodding and hit 'em with the proof right away. Saves everyone time and they usually shut up faster. Best part is you don't even have to be rude about it, just show the source and let them dig their own hole lol. Works every time on the loud ones who can't admit they're wrong.
