Showerthought: I had to pick between the 1992 X-Men cartoon or the comics for my birthday money
When I was 12, I had just enough saved for either the full 'Fatal Attractions' crossover in single issues or the VHS box set of the cartoon's first season. I went with the comics, thinking they were the real deal. It worked out because those issues, especially the one with Wolverine losing his adamantium, are worth a lot more now. Anyone else make a choice like that back in the day and wonder how the other path would have gone?

Holy crap, you had the VHS box set in your hands and you put it back? That cartoon was the whole reason most of us got into X-Men at all. The theme song alone is worth the price.

Man, that theme song is basically a free dopamine hit whenever it starts playing. Still remember trying to record it off the TV onto a blank tape and getting my dad's golf game instead by accident. Best mistake I never made.

What was I thinking, right? I guess my wallet was feeling brave that day. Now I'm just hoping it shows up at a yard sale.

Remember how they used to cram those episodes onto one tape with terrible tracking? You'd get the Phoenix Saga all glitchy right when Jean Grey turns into the big fire bird. That show didn't just introduce the X-Men, it gave us the DEFINITIVE voices for Wolverine and Cyclops. Hearing anyone else say "bub" just sounds wrong now.
