That guy at the shop who said to stop pulling my lines was right

I was at Midtown Comics in Manhattan last summer and some random guy watched me bagging my books. He told me I was pulling the comic book bags too tight and it would warp the boards over time. Six months later I checked my first 50 books and sure enough, 8 of them have a slight curve to the backing board. Has anyone else had that happen or am I just rough with my supplies?

That guy at the shop who said to stop pulling my lines was right" - yeah I made the exact same mistake when I first started collecting. What worked for me was switching to those stiff backing boards and leaving a tiny bit of slack in the bag so the board isn't bent at all. I also started stacking my bagged books flat under a few heavy books for a week before standing them up, and it helped flatten out the ones that already had curves.

Totally agree @jakeb81, just gotta be careful not to overslack the bag or the board slides around.

Wait, are you saying I'm NOT supposed to use my comic bags as a makeshift trampoline for my action figures? ...Man, no wonder my graded books look like they went through a washing machine.
