Trades from my pull list binder to a tablet, no regrets after 2 years
I used to keep a fat three ring binder with every issue in protective sleeves, you know, the whole ritual. Back in 2022, I moved to Austin and just couldn't haul 40 pounds of floppies up three flights of stairs, so I switched to buying digital trades on my tablet. Now I can zoom into Alex Ross's art on a 12 inch screen, which honestly beats squinting at a page under bad lamp light. Has anyone else made the jump and then felt weird about not having the physical smell of newsprint anymore?
Digital trades are nice for reading but they don't really replace the smell of newsprint, that's just a different thing entirely... The zoom feature on art is a solid tradeoff though, some of that detail gets lost on paper anyway. Just don't sell your old floppies too fast, you might miss them more than you think once the tablet runs out of battery.
