Vent: My local shop's 'new reader' shelf was just the same 5 big events
I asked the guy for a real starting point and he just handed me a $4.99 issue of 'Secret Wars' #1 from 2015, which was useless. How do you actually find a character's first good story arc without getting lost in crossovers?

My buddy found a great Moon Knight run by just asking for the artist's first issue.

Ever try the Wikipedia reading order trick? I just pick a character, scroll to their publication history, and follow the first major story listed there. It's how I found Daredevil's "Born Again" without buying ten tie-in books first.

Wait, he gave you a single issue of Secret Wars? That's like handing someone one puzzle piece and calling it a map.

Ever try just looking up a character's best story on a fan site? I had the same problem with Batman and found a solid list of standalone graphic novels that way. It cuts through all the event noise.
