Warning: I tried to explain the X-Men timeline to my mom over Thanksgiving dinner
After three hours and a napkin diagram, she just looked at me and asked if Magneto was a nice man, which made me realize we might be too deep in the lore for normal chats.

Tried explaining the whole thing to my cousin once. Gave up and just said the X-Men are like a big, messy family that fights sometimes. Started with the main movies, skipped the time travel stuff. When he asked about Magneto, I said he's complicated, like a guy who wants to protect his people but goes too far. That seemed to work better than my whole timeline chart.
