Warning: Spent $120 on a rare variant cover that arrived with a crease right down the middle

I bought a first print of Spider-Man #300 from a seller on eBay last week and paid a premium for what they said was 'near mint' condition. When it showed up, there was a big crease running through the cover that totally kills the value for resale or grading. Has anyone else had a bad experience buying expensive books online and what do you do when the seller fights you on a return?

Honestly, that "near mint" line gets thrown around way too loosely on eBay. I had a similar thing happen with a New Mutants #98 where the seller claimed it was flawless but it had a spine roll that was obvious in the right light. The best move is to file a claim with eBay directly because they almost always side with the buyer if you took clear photos of the damage right when you opened it.

Filed a claim once and got refunded within two days, worked like a charm.
