Brought a tiny 6 inch inspection mirror on a pier job and it saved me a whole extra dive
I got sent down to check some pilings under a pier in Tacoma and the visibility was maybe two feet, just green mud water. I grabbed a little 6 inch mirror off the truck at the last second, the kind with the telescoping handle, mostly as a joke. Turned out I could angle it around a brace and see the weld seam behind it without wedging my whole helmet in there. Found a crack about 3 inches long that I would have missed, and the supervisor called off the second dive we had planned for that afternoon. Kept the mirror in my bag ever since. Anyone else carry something odd in their kit that actually earns its spot?
