Changed my stance on dive buddy checks after a close call

I used to rush through them, but a stuck valve on my last job convinced me. Now I follow every step carefully.

Wow, same thing happened to me last year. I do a full gear check now no matter how simple the dive seems. That routine totally saved my butt once when my buddy caught a loose strap I missed.

Oh man, I totally get that! After hearing stories like @the_rowan's dive check save, I started applying it to everything. Now I double-check my backpack zippers before leaving the house and always glance back at my parked car to make sure the lights are off. It's like building a safety net for your brain! Those tiny habits add up and prevent so much stress later. Honestly, it's become second nature to me now.

Yeah, those tiny habits really do build up, just like @the_rowan's gear check story shows!

Totally get what @the_rowan means about routines saving you. It's crazy how that same idea applies everywhere once you start looking for it. I catch myself doing mini gear checks for daily stuff now... like always testing the stove knobs are off or giving the car seat buckles a tug. Those little pauses stop big problems before they even start.
