Heard a tender in Galveston say 'the diver is the tool' and it stuck with me
I was grabbing coffee near the docks in Galveston last month and overheard a tender giving a new guy a hard time. He said, 'the diver is the tool, so treat your body like you treat your gear.' At first I thought it was just old-timer talk, but then I started thinking about how I used to skip stretching before a 6 hour bottom run. I talked to my doctor and he said my shoulder pain was probably from not warming up, so I started doing 10 minutes of easy stretches before each shift. Two months in, my back feels better and I'm not as wiped out after a long day in the water. Has anyone else picked up a piece of advice like that and actually changed their routine because of it?
