Noticing more divers picking up salvage ops over construction
In the past few months, I've seen a bunch of divers moving from regular construction dives to salvage work. The jobs are unpredictable, but the payouts can be huge when a big project comes along. It feels like there's less competition in salvage, so guys are jumping ship. Maybe it's a smart move if you don't mind the odd hours and locations.

Sort of like how people jump into gig work for fast money, but then miss having a regular schedule. That chase for a big win blinds you to the downsides.

Seanc's right about the insurance costs. They turn those big scores into small wins real quick. You need a lot of patience for the slow periods too.

My buddy's salvage insurance bill last month was over two grand, which really makes Rowan's point about chasing wins.

Hold on, I see it the other way. Salvage looks good until you get stuck with crazy insurance costs and long waits between jobs. I know guys who went that route and spent more time fixing old gear for spec jobs than actually working. Construction might have more crews but it's steady, and you can plan your life around it.
